A super team in Memphis? Zach Randolph wants to make it happen!

Much has been said about Zach’s Randolph impending free agency. Should the Memphis Grizzlies bring him back? Or should he just waltz into his a championship ring? Without a roster full of superstars, teams simply don’t have a real chance of winning a championship. As a result, many expect Z-Bo along with Vince Carter to move on to the greener pastures of Golden State to finally get a ring.

However, according to Mr. Randolph himself, this doesn’t appear to be the case.

It appears Zach Randolph wants to create a super team in Memphis rather than pull a David West and join the Warriors. In the video, he’s asked by the reporter where he would go to make a super team. Zach replied:

"“Memphis. We’re gonna build a super team there!”"

This should definitely be good news to all fans of the Grizzlies who have watched Z-Bo for nearly the last decade. Considering all that he does for the city and community, many feel that it’s only right if Zach retires a Grizzly. Regardless, Memphis remains the best situation for him as a player in the twilight of his career.

However, the best part of the video is when the reporter asks about potential players to help create this super team. When he asks about the Memphis Grizzlies potentially getting Blake Griffin (editor’s note: Don’t worry, guys. We don’t even have the money – or desire – to sign Blake Griffin), Z-Bo had a very predictable reaction. Somehow, I feel Zach Randolph would rather never make the playoffs again than suit up with Blake Griffin. Before the question, Zach had a very jovial demeanor. When the reporter mentions Blake’s name, Z-Bo’s scowl was priceless.

Some things will just never change, like the sun rising in the morning, and Chris Paul never making it to the Conference Finals. But I digress.

Hopefully, Zach Randolph will re-sign with Memphis on a cheaper deal. A super team in Memphis is likely an impossibility, but it doesn’t mean they can’t continue to improve.
