Memphis Grizzlies’ Brandan Wright moving on in silence?
By R Davis
After two lost seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies, is Brandan Wright’s future with the team in question? Could this off-court decision set it in stone?
Brandan Wright has been nothing short of a mystery to the fans here. The Memphis Grizzlies signed Wright to an inexpensive three-year, $17.1M contract in the summer of 2015. After bouncing around the league, Wright choose Memphis to be closer to home in the state of Tennessee. With the acquisition of Wright, Wallace got himself a former McDonald’s All-American – one of his favorites. He also replaced Kosta Koufos – the former backup who was seeking a starting role elsewhere – with a more athletic big man. He was the perfect backup for Marc Gasol and the Memphis Grizzlies.
But neither did he or the Grizzlies pictured the marriage would have been this estranged.
In his first season, the big man experienced a right knee injury just about five months after his commitment to the franchise, sidelining him for most of the 2015-16 season. Of course fans and spectators had questions. What could he have contributed to a team in desperate need of more athleticism?
Unfortunately for Wright, fans would have to wait in suspense a little while longer. The following season, he experienced another year of injury, but this time it was his left ankle that required an immediate arthroscopic procedure, again making him out indefinitely for the Grizzlies.
Last season was the first time fans actually got a chance to see what Wright could bring to the team. The 29-year old suited up for 28 games where he averaged 6.8 points and 2.8 rebounds, an improvement from the previous year where he only played a total of 12 games.
Out the Door?
Now, what do we know more today about Wright than we did before?
There have been rumors with speculations indicating that the former top 10 pick isn’t happy with his role under the Fizdale regime. One insider, Cam Rose with Blu3WorldOrder posted a tweet saying the franchise has removed the journeyman from their offseason tour:

Again this could all just be mere speculation. Until then let’s just enjoy this tweet from Scott Reall, who apparently is working with the big fella on his current offseason quest to be better, stronger, and healthier where ever his talents may take him.
