Memphis Grizzlies: Revisiting Chandler Parsons Signing
By AJ Salah
Jared Dudley – 3 yrs/$30 million
Dudley begins to represent the other end of the free agency spectrum for Memphis. Given the results a year later, there’s a sound argument for spending small here, while rounding out the rest of the roster.

Despite his age (32), Dudley is an established lights-out shooter and underrated defender who plays with a very high basketball IQ. Age tends to erode that skill set more slowly, and there’s zero evidence he’ll wash up soon. His per-36 numbers have been remarkably consistent across the board since cresting the standard “prime age” of 25-28.
Dudley himself may not have been a marquee signing, but he would’ve nailed Memphis’ big needs, while providing a strong veteran presence. Add the marginal benefit of an additional $14 million in annual cap room – on a shorter deal – and we’re talking a large plus to the Grizzlies’ overall outlook.
