Never before seen! The Memphis Grizzlies will have two retro teams in NBA 2K18. What eras of Grizzly basketball will we see?

I honestly thought this day will never come. In NBA 2K18, the Memphis Grizzlies will have two retro teams. One will be the 2005-06 team, and the other is the 2012-13 team that reached the Western Conference Finals:

When most people think “classic” teams, these Grizzly teams won’t ring a bell. However, it’s nice to see the Memphis Grizzlies get this kind of attention.

So who will you be able to play with? Which team will be better?

With the 2005-06 Grizzlies, you’ll probably see the better offense of the two teams. This team features a young Pau Gasol who had just made his first All-Star game and finished the season averaging 20.4 points and 4.6 assists. They also had way better shooting with Mike Miller, Shane Battier, Damon Stoudamire and Eddie Jones all capable of hitting the deep ball.

On the other hand, if you want the more successful team and better defense, play with the 2012-13 Memphis Grizzlies. You’ll have the Bruise Brothers of Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph near their peak. This team also has a younger, more explosive Tony Allen and Tayshaun Prince locking down the perimeter. Then, they have Mike Conley as well, but he wasn’t as good as what he is now. This team doesn’t possess near as much depth as the older team, but they’ll be a fun team if you love the “Grit ‘n’ Grind” days.

Regardless of your personal preference, it’s still fun to see the Memphis Grizzlies have throwback teams in a 2K game. It’ll surely be fun for Grizz fans to reminisce on the good ole days — especially now since Zach Randolph and eventually Tony Allen are out the door.
