With NBA 2K18 out, who are some underrated players for the Memphis Grizzlies? Is there justification for their ratings? What should their ratings be?

NBA 2K18 is out, and it might be the best video game of the year. There’s a revamped  myPlayer and myGM modes. The gameplay and graphics are insane this year. The myTeam mode took more steps towards fading away from irrelevant.

The ratings are out now, and you can debate on them for sure. There’s no way Derrick Rose shouldn’t be in the low 80’s. While Giannis Antetokounmpo is a monster, how can someone with a nonexistent jumper be rated at 91?

Some players on the Memphis Grizzlies are underrated as well. Which players fall in these categories? Where should they fall instead?

Underrated ratings:

Dillon Brooks

Actual rating: 68

The former PAC-12 Player of the Year was a second-round draft pick this year, so his rating wasn’t going to be that high. However, at Oregon and in Summer League, he proved to be a player with multiple weapons.

He can shoot the ball both from mid-range and deep. He’s shown the ability to distribute the ball and run an offense. Brooks also can rebound well for a guard.

After being a second-round draft pick, he obviously has to work his way up, but he shouldn’t be the lowest-rated player on this team.

Deserved Rating: 70

Wayne Selden

Actual rating: 70

Wayne Selden was an undrafted rookie who was picked up late last season. ’70’ is a normal rating for an undrafted, unproven player. However, he has already proven to be as good or better than Andrew Harrison and Troy Daniels — both rated ’72.’

With his defense and average shooting, he should at least be on their level. He’s a prime candidate to improve on his rating, especially if he earns a starting spot.

Deserved Rating: 72

Chandler Parsons

Actual rating: 74

Last season, he was terrible and injured. However, why the drop to 74?

His 3-point rating is a ‘D+,’ even though he shot 41.4 percent in Dallas the prior season. Last season, he did shoot 26.9 percent, but that doesn’t represent his 3-point shooting ability.

Prior to last year’s injury-marred season, he was a solid third-option scorer — career average of 14.3 points a game. Most 74-rated players don’t average double-digit points per game.

On the bright side, NBA 2K updates their rosters and ratings throughout the season. Hopefully, Parsons proves them wrong.

Deserved Rating: 76.
