JaMychal Green

Technically, this guy hasn’t even signed yet and arguably holds the success of the Grizzlies in his hands. He was undoubtedly one of the biggest impact players last season for the Grizzlies, regardless of his postseason. Even then, it’s hard to pin anything on the player that has helped anchor this defense since he has been put in the starting lineup.

He takes the athletic and more versatile threats on defense, while his offensive skill is slowly improving. He’s still fresh in the league, and he made drastic improvements over the course of last season.

Next: Countdown begins now, are the Grizz ready?

The improvement is nice and everything, but the real reason he’ll be the Grizz MVP is because he is going to play with a chip on his shoulder.

Many thought JaMychal Green might be able to land a decent contract and leave Memphis, but so far, nothing has happened. He makes less than players that spent most of their time in the D-League, while Green was holding his own against the likes of Blake Griffin and Anthony Davis and playing 30 minutes a night. He deserves to get paid, and last season might have triggered a realization that he needs to do a better job of proving it. Some may disagree, but looking at the current situation, it’s easy to assume. — Jake Finnen (@HalfCourtJester)
