No. 1: Vince Carter

If you don’t agree with me, you either see Rudy Gay as a role player or didn’t watch anything from last season.

Vince Carter was the best role player alongside the ‘Core 4′ in their seven-year run. He provided the team with a steady veteran presence off the bench and leadership in the locker room. When his number was called upon, he answered.

Need someone to run the offense? VC got you. Need a crucial bucket? Draw a play up for VC. Need a big defensive stop? The 40-year old wasn’t a liability.

If it weren’t for him, the Grizzlies would’ve missed the playoffs last years — especially given Parsons’ injury situation.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t retire a Grizz, but his impact in Memphis was resounding.

No, Rudy Gay isn’t on here. He wasn’t a role player in Memphis. He was a cornerstone.
