About the 76ers

The 76ers made some new moves this offseason, and they’re trusting the process more than ever. Ben Simmons will make his debut this year. Markelle Fultz, the number one pick in this past year’s, has the ability to become a star in the league. Joel Embiid will be coming back from injury, eager to show what he can do on the court — even though he won’t play tonight. Also, the 76ers made a splash in free agency by signing J.J. Reddick, who gives the 76ers some veteran leadership after being filled with young talent.

Well, what about the Grizzlies?

The Grizzlies come into this game as a new look team as well.

As we all know, the Grizzlies moved on from Tony Allen, Zach Randolph, and Vince Carter. The front office went after guys with some speed and playmaking abilities. Chris Wallace did some work this offseason.

After Monday’s night game, the Chalmer’s signing looks like a risk that will pay dividends. Mario dropped off 19 points in just 20 minutes and led the Grizzlies in scoring Monday night. The Grizzlies have struggled against the 76ers in recent years, but with both teams rebuilding their structure, it should be an interesting matchup.

Injury Updates

  • Marc Gasol will sit out the game while the team doctors continue to be careful with his ankle. Gasol injured his ankle while playing with the Barcelona national team and with Gasol’s age and recent injury history that seems to be the best move as of right now. Coach David Fizdale Gasol will more than likely play next week
  • Tyreke Evans will miss his second straight game in the preseason due to migraines. Evans will play a big role in this team, so it should be interesting to see when he makes debut as a Grizzly.
  • Mike Conley will sit for rest reasons as second-year guard Wade Baldwin will get the start at point this evening.

JaMychal Green update

JaMychal FINALLY signed a deal with the Grizzlies this past week. He didn’t play in the preseason opener, but is rumored to make his preseason debut tonight according to Grind City Media’s Mike Wallace.

Concluding Remarks

This is a preseason game, so it we shouldn’t analyze what happens too much. David Fizdale will use the early stages of the preseason to see what the younger talent can do and experiment with the lineups.
