Memphis Grizzlies Roundtable: Who should be the final two roster cuts?
Wade Baldwin and Jarell Martin (cont.)
Most years, Wade Baldwin is a guy who would make the team, but this season the Grizzlies have a lot more good depth. Yes, Baldwin may have more potential than they do as he should become a very good defender. This team has a lot of quality players at guard who’ll be a part of this team’s future, and it’s not worth cutting one of those guys to keep Baldwin. Chalmers and Harrison have both shown that they can play a nice role off the bench. With those two at backup point guard, this team will be fine for the upcoming season and for as long as Conley is in Memphis.

Jarell Martin was a guy who some thought could become a quality player in Memphis. He has some skill and versatility, but he never really has shown much development in his time here. He’s been given multiple chances to get a good role in the rotation, but every time he shows he isn’t capable of handling that role. With Deyonta Davis on the team, I don’t think it’s very likely that the Grizz keep Martin around. They’ve seen everything they need to, but it just isn’t working out in Memphis.
Both of these players will get another chance. Wade Baldwin will probably be picked up rather quickly because of his potential. Martin benefit from a change of scenery, as he has some skill but it just hasn’t really led to anything in Memphis. It’ll be exciting to see what the future holds for these guys, but it won’t be in Memphis. — Chris Kern (@chriskern11)
