No. 3: Marc Gasol is still a top center in the NBA

Yes, Marc Gasol rebounding a basketball is this featured image, because the idea is a myth to some of you.

I feel like people need to learn from their mistakes. It used to be popular to call athletic specimen such as DeAndre Jordan a better center than Marc Gasol. When people are making their ‘best centers’ list, it’s easy for them to place Gasol behind young, unproven “unicorns” such as Joel Embiid, Kristaps Porzingis and the “Chosen One” from analytics basketball, Nikola Jokic.

When will they learn that Marc Gasol never left the NBA?

Even in his 30’s, Gasol has done everything to stay relevant. He added a 3-point jumper last year and scored at a career-best rate. This year, through two games, he’s tallied 25 rebounds (14 and 11 in each). For the past several years, people used his rebounding deficiencies to establish an argument against them. Though we have a small sample size, it’s an encouraging sign going forward.

The 7-footer had 34 points and 14 rebounds against the team many thought killed the center position. However, it’s alive and well. Thanks to Marc Gasol.
