Let’s keep the hot questions coming! Can the Memphis Grizzlies find a young player who can step into the permanent rotation?

The Memphis Grizzlies finally have an abundance of young players who’ll receive minutes. Is there one who can seize the opportunity?

Dillon Brooks would appear to be the obvious answer here. He had 19 points along with four steals and two blocks, looking more like a Rookie of the Year candidate than he did a second-round pick. He’ll likely continue to be a solid rotation player. However, Wade Baldwin was also excellent in his debut last year, and we all know how that unfortunately panned out.

Jarell Martin was on his way out of Memphis a month ago. Now he’s likely to start, since starting power forward JaMychal Green is out with injury. His work ethic and intensity have long been a question for him ever since he entered the league. Can he finally bring the consistency to match his versatile skill-set?

Wayne Selden and Ben McLemore will fight for minutes at the shooting guard position. Selden was a Summer League superstar, but we have yet to see him much this year due to his quad injury. With his broken foot, Ben McLemore hasn’t been on the floor at all this season. Can either of these two guys become the Grizzlies’ shooting guard of the future?

Finally, we have the man of the hour, the “Dillon Dollar Man”, the “future of Memphis basketball” — Dillon Brooks. Let’s just clear something up right now: I love Dillon Brooks, and you love Dillon Brooks too. Nothing would make me happier than to see this guy end up being a Manu Ginobili type of story and end up becoming an All-Star.

Is it likely that Brooks will turn into such a player? Not at all. However, maybe, just maybe, he will turn into the wing scorer the Grizzlies have always needed.
