The Memphis Grizzlies lost their first game of the season in Dallas against the Mavericks – who gained their first win. What were the main takeaways?

Well, the 82-0 dream is over. The Memphis Grizzlies lost their first game of the young season to the winless Dallas Mavericks.

Coming into the game, the Mavericks were 0-3, coming off a 30-point blowout at the hands  of the Warriors. This team is a Western Conference basement resident, but they have a decent starting lineup and a phenomenal coach.

With a back-to-back, home-and-home showdown, envisioning the Grizzlies’ first loss wasn’t exactly too hard. However, you’d think they’d play better than they did last night.

The Grizzlies simply came out of the gates flat, facing a 14-point deficit at the end of the first quarter. When you give a team eager for their first win a good start, it’s hard to shake off their confidence and momentum.

The comeback efforts were certainly there, but it simply wasn’t enough as the Grizzlies fell, 103-94.

What were the main takeaways with this game? Was this loss an alarming sign for the Grizzlies?
