Memphis Grizzlies Hot Takes: Jarell Martin is better than JaMychal Green
Sell
Jarell Martin has some good skills, but I wouldn’t say he’s better than JaMychal Green at the moment.
Could he better than him? Sure, sometime down the line. However his defense still needs improvement, especially compared to JaMychal’s defense. One major flaw for Martin is his fouling — averaging 3.4 fouls in 22.2 minutes per game. To receive extended minutes, he has to learn to play defense without fouling. If he can’t do that, he simply can’t receive consistent minutes.
Jarell Martin has more weapons offensively and possesses more athleticism, but JaMychal is more efficient. Last season, Martin only shot 38.4 percent from the field (an awful percentage for a big man), while Green shot 50 percent.
Given his age and athleticism, the Grizzlies should invest in Green in the short-term and in Martin — or Rabb — in the long run. — Parker Fleming (@PAKA_FLOCKA)
