Brooks has played well so far, and no one wants to see him out of the lineup. However,  the fact is, once Selden and McLemore return, the Grizzlies should have better options off the bench. McLemore was the major free agent signing this summer, and Selden clearly outplayed Brooks in Summer League and was ahead of him before the injury.

Brooks is a wing player and will have to beat out McLemore, Selden, Ennis and Evans for playing time. That won’t be easy. It would make sense once Selden and McLemore return to allow Brooks to play some in the G League to get experience and regular playing time while waiting for opportunities with the big club to open. Over an 82-game season, there should be plenty of opportunities via injuries. —Chip Crain (@chipc3)
