The Memphis Grizzlies have announced that Mike Conley will sit out due to ankle and heel issues. He’ll be evaluated in two weeks. What’s in store for Grizz?

Mike Conley will be out indefinitely with a sore heel and ankle.

In the games he started, Conley averaged 17 points, two rebounds and four assists. He struggled to score and run the offense in Houston and Milwaukee. Then, he rested in the home game against Indiana. Conley was prone to ankle injuries. According to the Fox Sports profile on Conley, he suffered some soreness and an ankle sprain in 2015. We don’t know how long these injuries will keep him out. However, keep in mind that he returned from a broken back last season in just 11 games.

Right now, expect Mario Chalmers to start at point guard. In addition, Tyreke Evans should see time at the 1 as well. Wings Dillon Brooks and Chandler Parsons will probably serve as playmakers more often. Conley’s injury could also open up playing time to Andrew Harrison and two-way player Kobi Simmons.

Marc Gasol is sure to shoulder some more responsibility with his fellow star out. Last season, he had his best stretch of basketball when Conley was out with a broken back.

He had a series of injuries in the past few seasons, mostly leg injuries. There’s currently no timetable for his return. He’s scheduled for therapy for his sore heel and ankle. There will be more information soon about Conley in two weeks.
