With the chance to rebound and start off December strong against one of the West’s top contenders, the Memphis Grizzlies fell short. A 79-95 loss to the San Antonio Spurs means a quick recap because quite frankly, not much scoring happened and the game was so ssloowwwww.

The leading scorer and rebounder for the Memphis Grizzlies was Marc Gasol, (16 points, 16 rebounds and four assists) who had a decent night in what was an overall bad outing for the entire team. At one point, Gasol was kneeling on the ground with his head down for an extended period and seemed completely drained. Not saying that he won’t return with a vengeance like a typical superhero movie, but it was just kind of sad to see.

When you only score 38 points in a half, you know something is off. A bad shooting night is a bad shooting night, and they happen. The Grizzlies have two more games against the Spurs, (for playoff seeding purposes I guess?) but the losing streak extends to 10 and you know no one is happy about that. The Grizzlies will win a game. It may not be until the Hawks on December 15th, but it’ll happen.

Not to pile on the negativity but Chandler Parsons looked to be limping on his last run of the games. He did make a shot immediately after, but another injury to this team will just be unsurprising at this point. Remember when Vince Carter led that 28-man roster team to a playoff appearance? Let’s just hope some of that magic find its way into Gasol’s hands.

The Grizzlies take on the Cavaliers tomorrow, and once again they need more threats from the outside before they can open Gasol’s game. Cleveland ranks among the top five in 3PA and this will be the perfect opportunity for anyone on Memphis to find their rhythm. They need to find scoring from the outside the only way to get better is to learn through experience.

Whether it’s Andrew Harrison, Mario Chalmers, Dillon Brooks or even Jarrell Martin, they need to pull up with confidence. They’ve made the shots before and this is a golden opportunity for them. With the Cavaliers on a winning streak, the Grizzlies can snap a losing streak and hopefully swing momentum in their favor moving forward.
