Memphis Grizzlies, NBA: Midseason Mock Draft
The season is at its midway point. Where do the Memphis Grizzlies fall in the lottery odds right now? Could they finally nail a draft pick?
The Memphis Grizzlies have had a totally unexpected season. Who really expected them to fall this hard, even after Mike Conley’s injury?
Now, they find themselves among the bottom-dwellers competing for ping pong balls — though they still see “playoffs.” This year’s top prospects have made it worth the pain and misery of the season. DeAndre Ayton and Mo Bamba are joining the new wave of unicorn centers. Luka Doncic is putting up historic numbers in the second-best professional basketball league behind the NBA. Marvin Bagley has been a monster on the glass, a double-double machine. Trae Young is putting up historic numbers and may be the first prospect ever to be compared to Steph Curry. There’s still intrigue behind the injured Michael Porter Jr.
At this point in the season, you’re going to see some of these teams give up some of their best assets to secure any of these players. The draft is a crapshoot: you could get a franchise star, a foundation piece, a role player or a flop. Anyways, it never hurts to take the risk.
With the season at its midpoint, how does the draft board look like right now? Who would the Memphis Grizzlies pick?
Standings based off January 12th before games were played.
