University of Texas. Mo Bamba. 5. player. 18. Lakers’ Pick goes to Boston if it falls 2-5, but to Philly if it’s 1, 6-30.

Wow, Boston has done it again. After their successful with the Brooklyn picks, they find themselves in a position landing another top pick in a top-heavy class. Not to mention, they hold Memphis’ pick (RT if you cried) which could become the league’s most valuable non-player asset by 2020.

The Celtics have always drafted for best talent available, regardless of fit. However, they desperately need rim protection way more than a wing, which makes Bamba the pick over Doncic. Bamba has been an absolute force this season, averaging 11.6 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks. He has a freakish, 2K-like body as he stands at 6’11” with a 7’9″ wingspan and 9’6″ wingspan. With his mobility, he can switch onto perimeter players, and he can run the floor.

His jumpshot is a work in progress, but his mechanics look fluid enough to believe he can become a spot-up shooter.

With Bamba, they would find a middleman of the future — and a potential Defensive Player of the Year — alongside Kyrie, Tatum and Brown.

Chance of #1 pick: 8.8

Alternate pick: Luka Doncic

Likely #1 pick (goes to Sixers): Michael Porter Jr.
. C
