No. 3: Washington

The Wizards are so close to being an Eastern Conference Finals team.

They have one of the best backcourts in the league in John Wall and Bradley Beal. Otto Porter is one of the most lethal 3&D wings in basketball. Markieff Morris is a nice stretch-4. Kelly Oubre is coming along as a two-way player off the bench.

However, their glaring holes are at center and off the bench.

Gortat and Mahinmi are adequate centers but not good enough to win battles against some of the other big men in the East. Then aside from Oubre – and the sporadic good games from Mike Scott – they don’t have anyone off the bench.

They simply need a player who could legitimately spell both Beal and Wall. In addition, they need a wing that could be a spark off the bench and play alongside Wall and Beal.

Evans might be the best option for this Wizards team. He has the size to play either wing position, and he’s another shooter for Wall to drive and kick to.

The Wizards’ small-ball lineups have been successful. The five-man unit of Wall, Beal, Porter, Oubre and Gortat has a net rating of +17.8. The five-man unit of Wall, Beal, Porter, Oubre and Morris has a net rating of +5.5.

Adding a player like Evans would unlock more deadly small-ball lineups, and he could be the key to making this an Eastern Conference Finals team.

Ideal return: Jodie Meeks and a 2018 first-round pick.
