As the Memphis Grizzlies just announced Mike Conley’s season-ending injury, a beat writer tried to make some news on Chandler Parsons only to be shut down.

It’s been a rough week for the Memphis Grizzlies and the fans as Mike Conley is officially out for the season. Since that news is out, some may be skeptical on whether or not Chandler Parsons will return this season. A day after the Conley news, this piece of information surfaced:

Parsons has had knee issues throughout his contract with Memphis — not to mention in Dallas as well. It’s a topic you could seriously debate given the severity of his knee problems. However, Parsons came in to deny the report:

Tillery then tweeted a comment from Parsons’ agent regarding the issue:

This tweet is a huge sigh of relief to a Grizzlies team that needs some good news.

The knees have derailed his career, but seeing him back on the court is extremely likely. In the latest medical update, it said he’s “made progress this week in alleviating soreness in his right knee” and remains day-to-day.

Thought it’s improbable to see Chandler Parsons return to his Dallas and Houston form, he’s been a steady on-court presence on this team, averaging 8.8 points on 41.1 percent shooting from deep, 2.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists in only 21 minutes a game with a player efficiency rating of 14.5. Those stats translated to 15.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists per 36 minutes.

With the team already shutting down Conley for the season, whether or not they do the same with Parsons will be a storyline until they do so. With this “#FakeNews” tweet out, the “injury retirement” factor will be a small topic of discussion as well — even though it’s “fake news.”

All we can hope for at this point is for Parsons to return without any further knee complications.
