Wall’s health has been a story of peaks and valleys. He played in 69, 66 and 49 games his first three seasons, averaged 79 over the next four, and now will end up missing almost half of 2017-18 with a bum knee.

The notion of a nagging knee injury is particularly troublesome for Wall, a player whose single greatest asset is his freakish speed.

His absence leaves the Wizards painfully thin, but that blame lies with their front office. No injuries past to Bradley Beal or current to Wall could sabotage the Washington as much as their bench.
