The Memphis Grizzlies might have found a gem in Wayne Selden. As he finds his footing in the league, our writers assess a potential ceiling for him.

For the past two seasons, Wayne Selden has been an enigma for the Memphis Grizzlies.

Last year, he was cut from training camp and was one of the few incredibly talented training camp invitees. In the middle of last season, he was brought back for the remainder of the season. Throughout that season, he played a prominent role in the playoffs, as he guarded Kawhi Leonard.

Now, he’s a prominent fixture in the present and future. After a strong Summer League showing, many people saw him as the 2-guard of the future. Instead, he dealt with a quadricep injury that derailed most of his season.

Even though he’s about 50 games into his career, Selden possess major upside. He’s an extremely athletic wing with the ability to guard multiple positions — a coveted trait in today’s NBA. In addition, he has the scoring ability to average double-digit points a game in this league.

He’s certainly a major mystery for the Grizzlies’ future. He can either be really good, or be a solid role player. What is his upside though? Can he carry the torch for the Grizzlies’ future?
