The talk within the Memphis Grizzlies fanbase has been the head coach situation. It’s time to remove the interim tag and name JB Bickerstaff the head coach.
Ever since the Memphis Grizzlies fired Dave Fizdale, there’s been a question lingering around: who’s up next?
Obviously, JB Bickerstaff has taken over interim duties, but that doesn’t answer anything about the long-term position.
Or does it?
It’s certainly enticing to think about other coaching candidates. You could always eye the Popovich coaching tree. Former head coaches would probably like to have a bounce-back gig. Or, you could swing for the fences with a college hire.
However, they don’t need to do any of that when they have a perfectly good head coach right in front of them.
Bickerstaff has done a more than adequate job as head coach. Granted, the losses are piling up because of the talent, not his coaching. He’s gotten his guys to play hard every night; who knows, maybe with talent, he could prove how his worth as a NBA head coach.
Why else should he acquire the job? How’s his relationship with the players? Are the players developing?
