The Memphis Grizzlies might undergo some huge changes. Once the ownership situation is resolved, the team could look totally different.
Robert Pera and Steve Kaplan are negotiating for ownership control of the Memphis Grizzlies. How negotiations play out determines who becomes the majority owner and who gives up their portion of the team. In addition, it could change the team’s agenda.
There are multiple viewpoints on what this team needs to do going forward. Most people want Chris Wallace gone. Others want Mike Conley and Marc Gasol gone, so they could ignite a rebuild. Some people want the Grizzlies to ride out this bad season and reload for another playoff run next question.
Regardless of your opinion, let’s answer this question:
Yes
There’s absolutely a chance the entire team changes once there’s new ownership. The front office situation should change, as Chris Wallace and the rest of his colleagues have made some questionable decisions over the past several years.
Any decision in ownership could start a sweep of the front office, which could also change the direction of this franchise. Someone could easily come into the organization and decide that the team needs a facelift.
Not to mention, a new owner will have heavy influence in the team’s next head coach. They could look for a more modern NBA structure — a true pace-and-space style of play. In the process, the ownership could invest in this coach’s style and clean-sweep any player who doesn’t fit the system.

Finally — the part everyone else cares about — the players. A possible change in ownership could affect the duration of Conley and Gasol’s tenures in Memphis. Both players have been awesome for this team, but they don’t serve a purpose for a rebuild. In addition, they could look to capitalize on whatever assets they would get in return.
It’s certainly not a pleasant thing to hear, but a possible ownership change could affect the entire organization for better or for worse.
