The Memphis Grizzlies are in the middle of a 13-game losing streak, and winning is tough right now. Can they upset the Spurs in San Antonio?

Wow, times have changed quickly for the Memphis Grizzlies and the San Antonio Spurs.

Last year, these two teams were battling it out in what was probably the most entertaining first sound series. Now, the injury bug has bitten both teams but to different extremes.

Both teams have lost their best players. The Grizzlies fell apart because of it, as they possess the league’s worst record. The Spurs, on the other hand, have managed to stay in the playoff race without Kawhi Leonard. However, they may not get home-court advantage in the first round, as they look more vulnerable than ever.

Needless to say, Mike Conley and Kawhi Leonard are extremely important to their teams’ success.

These two players won’t be playing in this matchup, so what else is there to look forward to?

Battle of the Gasol Brothers

It’s so fun watching the Gasol brothers battle it out against each other. It’s simply a small semblance of what one-on-one games were like growing up. On top of that, they’re two Hall-of-Fame caliber players.

The brothers are two of the most decorated big men of the past decade. They both possess excellent court vision for big men, and they can score in a variety of ways — in the post, from mid-range and from deep.

Marc Gasol is listed as questionable for this game, as he’s dealing with ankle and quad soreness. However, it’s an important matchup for him if he indeed plays.

Pau is getting up there in years and could retire at any moment. This game may be one of the last brotherly matchups we’ll see between these two players. Cherish it, Grizz fans.

Encore?

Unfortunately(?), I didn’t get to watch the last Grizzlies’ game against the Magic. However, you could probably imagine my face when I looked at the box score and saw Ben McLemore leading the team in scoring.

That’s right. Ben McLemore — the same Ben McLemore my co-expert called “the worst player on the Grizzlies” — scored 20 points on 8-14 shooting from the field. Not to mention, he grabbed seven rebounds and dished out four assists.

One of the more fascinating components of this game will be whether or not McLemore can build on this momentum.

At the rate he’s played this season, McLemore would have to get his passport ready when he hits free agency this summer. However, if he can gain some momentum, he might have a few more years in the league.

It’s Kobi Time

No Conley, Harrison or Chalmers in this game. Could this be the “Kobi Simmons” game we’ve all been waiting for?

Simmons has been a pleasant surprise this season. His athleticism and quickness have been welcoming for this team, as they should be for young talent wherever they can. In addition, he has a smooth feel for the game and can serve as a playmaker or a scorer.

Without the three point guards and Tyreke, you would think Bickerstaff will force-feed Simmons big minutes. Right?
