The Memphis Grizzlies entered Monday night’s match-up against the Milwaukee Bucks trying to avoid their 18th straight loss.

First Quarter:

The Grizzlies came out very aggressive and had to in order to beat Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks. Memphis scored on three off their first four possessions and led the Bucks 15-7 which forced the Bucks to take an early first quarter timeout.

The young Grizzlies came out showing that they were better than a eighteen game losing streak. Kobi Simmons in particular was excellent with the ball throughout the first quarter before getting subbed out. Marc Gasol came out aggressive, and looked excellent. Simmons ended the quarter with four points and three assists. The Grizzlies trailed the Bucks 32-24 after one quarter.

Second Quarter:

The Grizzlies had production from unlikely sources in Ben McLemore and Chandler Parsons, who brought some fight off the bench. McLemore had struggled all season, and seeing him succeed hurts the soul, but was good to see in this terrible season.

JaMychal Green caught a ridiculous alley-oop from Jarell Martin mid-way through the second quarter that had everyone in awe.

Foul trouble took Simmons out of the game early in the second and the Grizzlies just could not get a run going. Memphis trailed Milwaukee by 14 at the end of two quarters.

Third Quarter:

The Grizzlies’ third quarter was Dillon Brooks’ quarter. He got hot late in the quarter that finally started a Grizzlies run. It was unfortunately short lived, and the Grizzlies offense became inconsistent and stagnant again. They trailed the Bucks 90-73 after three quarters.

Fourth Quarter:

The Grizzlies entered the final frame down 17 points, and trimmed the lead to nine with 7:08 remaining in the fourth quarter. A lineup of Wayne Selden, Ben McLemore, Deyonta Davis, Jarell Martin and Xavier Rathen-Mayes cut the Bucks lead to single digits. After a strong run, the Grizzlies run fell short yet again. The Grizzlies are now victims of 18 straight losses.

The Grizzlies will be back in Memphis to take on the Chicago Bulls on Thursday at 7 p.m..
