It depends on how you define “the new face of Grizzlies basketball.” He could certainly become the biggest fan favorite on the team, accepting the torch from Tony Allen. However, you shouldn’t want him to be the best player on your team. You’re seeing what that looks like right now, and it’s not too pretty. He can become the next folk legend for Memphis basketball — similar to former Grizzly players James Posey, Shane Battier and Tony Allen.

I hope not, but the way the team has run lately, it may be the best option.

In my opinion, the new face has to be the upcoming draft pick. That would be the one face that could energize the fan base and reclaim the scores of lost season ticket holders from this season. Mike Conley and Marc Gasol are the aging faces, and the draft pick has to be a better option for the next face than the team’s second 2nd-round draft pick from last season. If you throw in a re-signed Tyreke Evans, Brooks is at best the 5th option for a face of the Grizzlies for next season.

No. Love the guy, never quits, and is definitely a Grizzly, but no. He’ll be a fan favorite for years, and that’s great, but if he is the face of the franchise, that means they are constantly in the lottery instead of the playoffs. Whoever we take with our first pick in the 2018 NBA Draft — whether it be Bagley, Ayton, Porter Jr., or Doncic — that’s who SHOULD become the next face of the Memphis Grizzlies, and hopefully Chris Wallace is thinking that way.

Dear God, I hope not.

Let me put it you this way: You do not want Dillon Brooks to be the new face of the Memphis Grizzlies. If Dillon Brooks is the face of the Grizzlies, that means that everything you have known and loved has been blown straight to hell. Brooks has the potential to be a really good player in the NBA, but he will never be that guy.

Now can he become a fan favorite in the same vein of a Tony Allen or a Shane Battier? Absoloutely. But the new face of the Memphis Grizzlies should be whomever they pick in the upcoming draft.

If that doesn’t become a reality, there could be many hard years ahead for the Grizzlies.
