Memphis Grizzlies face Oklahoma City in season finale
Chesapeake Energy ArenaThe Memphis Grizzlies will close the regular season, as they travel to Oklahoma City to take on the Thunder. Could they pull off an upset?
The Memphis Grizzlies’ dreadful season is coming to the end, as they face the Oklahoma City Thunder in their final matchup. For the first time since 2010, the Grizzlies’ regular season will conclude without postseason basketball. This season has been a sad downward spiral.
The Grizzlies started out hot, going 5-1 in the first six games with wins over the Rockets (twice) and the Warriors. Then, Mike Conley went down, and the season was ruined. Dave Fizdale was fired, and the Grizzlies couldn’t catch a break from there. They endured two losing streaks of 10+ games.
Now, the Grizzlies secured the second worst record in the league, which also guarantees a top-five pick. Meanwhile, the Thunder are tied for the fifth seed, which means they’re looking to finish with the best playoff seeding possible.
As the season is coming to an end, what are some things to watch in the season finale?
Tests ahead
The Grizzlies will be without Marc Gasol, Mike Conley, Tyreke Evans, Chandler Parsons, JaMychal Green, Jarell Martin, Wayne Selden and Andrew Harrison.
Wow.
Expect the youth to receive ample playing time tonight. In addition, they’ll receive some tests. Kobi Simmons is going up against the reigning MVP Russell Westbrooks. Dillon Brooks will get most of the reps guarding Paul George. While they may not win this battle, they’ll certainly get some nice experience going up against motivated superstars.

Last time in Beale Street Blue?
As the Grizzlies close the season, some players could sport the Beale Street Blue one last time.
Mario Chalmers’ contract is set to expire, and he’s probably not coming back. Two-way player Kobi Simmons’ future is uncertain. Players like Ben McLemore and Deyonta Davis could be traded or waived prior to next season.
With some much unproven young talent, it’s blurry to see who will start next season with the Grizzlies. Could some of these guys change some minds in, what could be their, final audition?
History Coming
*sees Kobi Simmons is the only available point guard*
Looks like Russell Westbrook is going to average another triple-double. What a baller.
