Memphis Grizzlies rookie Dillon Brooks was fantastic in his rookie season. How well did he progress from game one to game 82 and what does his future look like in Memphis?

Dillon Brooks was a second round pick in last years draft. He surprised a lot of people this season with how well he played. A reasonable expectation would’ve been for him to just be a good role player. Instead, he started in 74 of the 82 games. He was also the only Grizzly to play in every game.

Dillon Brooks Shined This Season

Dillon Brooks had a very good season. He played very well and he won over all the Grizzlies fans by doing so. His great play also will possibly get him onto the All-Rookie 2nd team.

Brooks averaged eleven points and three rebounds per game in the season. He shot 44% from the field, 36% from three and 75% from the free throw line.

He was one of the main catalyst for the offense at the end of the season and he really had some big games. His final game of the season was his best, he ended with a career high 36 points at Oklahoma City.

He also had some moments where he guarded the top players on opposing teams. This will help him going forward as he has had the chance to guard some stars.

Brooks is a solid defender and having the chance to guard star players such as Paul George will be very good for him as he looks to secure a starting spot next season.

He does still have some areas to improve on as he gets ready for next season. He could look to improve his shooting some, though he is at a good spot with that right now. All in all if he works as hard in the offseason, as he plays during the regular season then he will be just fine.

What To Expect Next Season?

Dillon Brooks had a great rookie season and he’s gonna look to build on that going into next season. He is gonna look to come in and battle and look to secure a starting spot on an improved Grizzlies team next year.

With many question marks on the wing Brooks could have a good chance at doing so. With Chandler Parsons never seeming to get healthy and Tyreke Evans possibly leaving Memphis things may open up for him to start. Even if Tyreke comes back there’s a good chance he comes off the bench.

Brooks is a good scorer and a solid defender who plays extremely hard. That’s a guy who could fit well in the starting lineup alongside stars Mike Conley and Marc Gasol.

His personality will fit even better with the city. His hustle and determination fit right in with the Grit N’ Grind in Memphis.
