Beale Street Bears takes a look back at this date in time to enjoy some terrific playoff moments of the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Memphis Grizzlies are not currently playoff-eligible, so it does not hurt to review their past successes in the postseason. It soothes. It healts Grizz Nation in these tough times of losing.

Today is April 29th, and an important playoff game in Grizzlies history happened on this day in 2015.

Check out this video (below) to view the highlights of the Game 5 meeting between the Memphis Grizzlies and the LaMarcus Aldridge-led Portland Trail Blazers.

Memphis entered Game 5 of this first round series with the sole goal of closing it out. The Grizzlies could not afford to allow Portland back into the series because Mike Conley — Memphis’ starting point guard — remained sidelined with a broken face (literally).

Conley watched Game 5 from a box seat. He witnessed his power forward, Zach Randolph, torch the Trail Blazers from the field. It was vintage “Z-Bo.” He was the classroom bully, schooling All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge.

Aldridge may be a great player in his own right, but Memphis’ tandem of twin towers — Randolph plus center Marc Gasol — was too much to handle.

In addition to Zach Randolph’s 16 points and eight boards, “Big Spain” tallied 26 points and 14 rebounds of his own. To top things off, Vince Carter rolled back the clock with multiple slam dunks to provide a spark off the bench.

The Grizzlies were victorious in Game 5 by a final score of 93-99 in the home matchup. It was definitely a classic “Grit-‘N’-Grind” type of win.

Earning a 4-1 series completion, the Memphis Grizzlies moved ahead to the Western Conference Semifinals against Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

Continue to follow along with Beale Street Bears as we continue to share great moments in Memphis Grizzlies franchise history.
