Beale Street Bears takes a look back at this date in time to enjoy some terrific playoff moments of the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Memphis Grizzlies are not currently be playoff-eligible, so it does not hurt to review their past successes in the postseason. It soothes. It heals Grizz Nation.

Today is April 29th, and one important playoff game in Grizzlies history happened on this day in 2014.

Check out the video (below) to view the highlights of the Game 5 meeting between the  Memphis Grizzlies and Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Grizz had to overcome a slick Westbrook steal leading to a game-tying dunk. Then there was the gut-wrenching call from the officiating crew stating Zach Randolph’s layup at the buzzer was not good. Who would have thought that moments later, the referees would determine the same for a Serge Ibaka tip-in basket? And how often does Kevin Durant miss a clutch free-throw, as well as a potential game-winning three-point shot?

This contest felt as if it were never going to end. And if it did, the Grizzlies were probably going to lose, though that was not the case. It wound up being a case of the first team to reach 100 points, as Memphis won it by a final score of 100-99 in overtime.

Randolph posted a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double, as that was naturally where he was making his money. Mike Miller was huge off the pine with a 21-point outing (five-of-eight from beyond the arc) to go with six boards, three assists, and three steals. For Marc Gasol, he went hard in the paint and corralled 15 rebounds.

At this point in the series matchup, the Memphis Grizzlies had notched a 3-2 series lead. But the journey was far from over. The craziness of this particular series was just getting started.

Continue to follow along with Beale Street Bears as we continue to share great moments in Memphis Grizzlies franchise history.
