With one week remaining until the Memphis Grizzlies learn their fate in the 2018 NBA Draft Lottery, the team has decided which individuals will serve as representation.

Over the weekend, the Memphis Grizzlies decided on their representation for the upcoming 2018 NBA Draft Lottery, which will be aired live on ESPN.

Due to producing an abysmal 22-60 record during the 2017-18 regular season, the Grizzlies have locked themselves into a top-five selection. On Tuesday, May 15th, the team will know their fate via the Draft Lottery.

The Commercial Appeal shared the Grizz-related news of the team’s selections of Courtney Love, an eighth grader, and Elliot Perry, a true component of the city of Memphis.

"The Grizzlies are going with an eighth-grader who was reading at three years below grade level when he started at Grizzlies Prep, but is now reading at four years above grade level, and who takes care of his mother, who is legally blind."

The Grizzlies are a top organization in the NBA when it comes to giving back to the community. They take pride in serving the ones that keep the franchise afloat. This is another instance.

To top it all off, Elliot Perry is a Mempian for life. He grew up in Memphis. He spent his college days as a member of the University of Memphis Tigers basketball team. Perry went on to make a career for himself in the NBA, including a short stint with — you guessed it — the Memphis Grizzlies prior to calling it quits.

It is safe to say the Memphis Grizzlies chose the best possible route with the two representatives they selected for the May 15th event.

In a year the Grizzlies really cannot afford to be a bust at the NBA Draft, their representation is sure to bring some surefire luck at the Lottery.

Other Options?

Some franchises choose to send their owners or a super-fan for representation. Oftentimes it will be a star player or rising star. The Grizzlies could have sent Dillon Brooks, being as he looks to be a future star for the club. Maybe even Bongo Lady?

At least the Grizzlies did not go the Chandler Parsons route. Even Parsons laughed at the idea and knew he would not swing any luck towards the franchise.

Mike Ceide of WREG in Memphis captured Parsons’ reaction during the end-of-season exit interview.

Luka Doncic? DeAndre Ayton? Marvin Bagley? Trae Young?

Which prospect will be the next big name to call the Grindhouse their newfound home?

Grizz Nation will receive the answer on June 21st in Brooklyn, New York.

Go Grizz!
