Question: Who do you think Phoenix will take at No. 1 overall?

Lucas Johnson: “For me there is one clear choice, it’s Deandre Ayton. While Luka Doncic is a tempting prospect based on his past relationship with head coach Igor Kokoskov and the unique skill set at his size. Ayton has the potential to be one of the best centers in the NBA in a matter of a year or two. Finding a franchise center is hard for any team to do and the Suns can’t pass up the opportunity to draft one.”

Gerald Bourguet: “I think the Suns should take Doncic, but they’ll probably wind up taking Ayton. Phoenix has never really had a superstar center, and with the team “celebrating” its 50th year as a franchise with arguably the worst season in its history, the allure of a new “Shaq and Kobe” might be too great to pass up. Throw in the fact that Ayton went to Arizona, is built like David Robinson — the player the Suns missed out on drafting the last time they had a top-two pick — and seems to be the consensus No. 1 pick and it’ll be hard for the Suns to take the foreign guy. He and his former Team Slovenia coach, Igor Kokoskov, would be great together, but it’d be all too poetic for the Suns to take Ayton to try and reverse the curse of the coin-flip that cost them Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.”
