The Memphis Grizzlies may be targeting a steal of a prospect — Providence’s Rodney Bullock — late in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft.

On Tuesday, according to Chris Grenham of SB Nation, the Memphis Grizzlies scheduled a workout for Wednesday with Rodney Bullock, a seasoned 6’7,” 220-pound forward out of Providence.

As of right now, you will not find Rodney Bullock’s name in mock drafts updated by NBADraft.net or CBS Sports. Do not treat that as a red flag, though. Each rookie class has a couple guys that emerge out of nowhere to make an impact for an NBA team, whether it be one, two, or maybe three years on down the road.

In three seasons with the Providence Friars, Bullock averaged 13.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.8 steals, and 1.0 blocks in 32.9 minutes per game. The junior posted solid shooting accuracies of 49.7% from two-point range and 32.8% from three-point land over the course of his collegiate career. Overall, he is a valuable prospect at the small forward position as he can do a little bit of everything on both ends of the court.

The Memphis Grizzlies have become notorious for making swift deals during the second round on Draft Night. Honestly, the same should be expected from them this year on June 21st. Given their track record of success stories with their second round talent, Memphis seems more likely to hit it big with a late-Draft selection than they would with an additional first round pick.

Whether or not the Memphis Grizzlies elect to make a late-Draft deal in order to secure their rights to Rodney Bullock is still a ways away. After all, their workout with Bullock has not happened as of Wednesday evening. If the former Providence forward happens to go undrafted, look for the Grizzlies to be in the running to add him to their NBA Summer League roster.

Go Grizz!
