2018 NBA Mock Draft Version 4.0
CK: With the 25th overall pick, the Los Angeles Lakers select Khyri Thomas. The guard out of Creighton is a good two-way player who would be a very good value pick at No. 25. He is one of the better defensive guards in the league and is a really good spot-up shooter. Thomas could develop into a great three-and-D guard in this league.
CD: With the 24th overall pick, the Portland Trail Blazers select Omari Spellman of Villanova. The Blazers have been linked to a reunion with LaMarcus Aldridge, but drafting Spellman may hault those Aldridge plans. Regardless of which direction Portland chooses — to rebuild or to power ahead with their current core — Spellman fits nicely. It is time the Trail Blazers stop depending entirely on their backcourt for point production and Omari can help in spurts right away.
JL: With the 23rd overall pick, the Indiana Pacers select Kevin Huerter out of the University of Maryland. The Pacers have a solid trio in the frontcourt with Myles Turner, Thaddeus Young, and Domantas Dabonis. Young is rumored to be opting out of his contract this summer, but the league is moving more and more away from two bigs. Therefore, Huerter makes perfect sense, adding backcourt depth.
BS: With the 22nd overall pick, the Chicago Bulls select Donte DiVincenzo. He had a great NCAA Tournament, which boosted his NBA Draft stock. I think Donte will fit right in with the Bulls’ wing unit, and will progress rather quickly in the Bulls’ offense. Donte is more of a scorer than defender, but the No. 1 rule is do not label prospects. He can be anything, and that includes bad, but I think he will be fine in Chicago.
AS: With the 21st overall pick, the Utah Jazz will select Troy Brown. Brown can slide into the depth chart at multiple positions as a wiry athlete with a near-seven-foot wingspan. He fits Utah’s defense-first mentality, and at just 18 years of age, he could be one of the highest-upside picks outside of the lottery.
