2018 NBA Mock Draft Version 4.0
CK: With the 20th overall pick, the Minnesota Timberwolves select Keita Bates-Diop of Ohio State. He is a versatile forward who will fit in nicely with this team. He should be able to to make plays right away on both ends of the floor. Keita has the ability to be a small-ball four-man at times if the Wolves choose to place him there. He will be a key bench player this upcoming season.
CD: With the 19th overall pick, the Atlanta Hawks take a flyer on Western Kentucky’s Mitchell Robinson. Following the pick of a stellar point guard to begin their NBA Draft, the Hawks need a big to go with their new point guard. Mitchell Robinson is a risk to take this early, but he believes he has all the tools to succeed at the next level. The best time to take a risk like this is in the rebuilding phase, which Atlanta recently started. Robinson is raw, but a very intriguing prospect nonetheless.
JL: With the 18th overall pick, the San Antonio Spurs will select Duke’s Gary Trent, Jr. Outside of Dejounte Murray, the Spurs’ backcourt is aging. Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker are fossils of their prime. Patty Mills and Danny Green are not getting any younger either. Trent Jr. is the perfect player to fit into the Spurs’ system and thrive.
BS: With the 17th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Milwaukee Bucks select Jerome Robinson out of Boston College. Last season, Robinson averaged over 20 points per game while shooting 44% from the field. We know if the Bucks need anything, it is stability on the wing outside of Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is not very consistent from the perimeter. Jerome Robinson also gives you stability on the defensive end. In his last season at Boston College, he averaged two steals per game.
AS: With the 16th overall pick, the Phoenix Suns select Zhaire Smith. He is a freak athlete who has shown flashes of being an elite three-and-D guy with potential versatility to swing between multiple positions. The star point guard of the future likely will not be had with the pick, and the Suns already have plenty of young bigs. Smith’s athleticism gives him high upside and a variety of potential niches.
