CK: With the fifth overall pick, the Dallas Mavericks select Mohamed Bamba. Bamba is a young, athletic big who is going to make an impact on both ends of the floor. He has the potential to become an elite shot-blocker while also having some skill on the offensive end. The Mavs are also rumoed to have interest in some big-name centers via trade and Free-Agency, but that will not stop them from selecting the young big out of Texas.

With the fourth overall pick in the NBA Draft, the Memphis Grizzlies will select Missouri’s Michael Porter Jr. Being as the center, small forward, and point guard positions are complete within the Grizzlies’ starting lineup, MPJ can be a star at the four-spot. It is a high-risk, high-reward pick and Memphis is not afraid to play with fire to continue their winnings ways this decade. They can get back on track if this pick pans out. They can fulfill their shooting guard needs via Free-Agency, or if Ben McLemore displays improvement on the wing.

JL: The Atlanta Hawks will take Trae Young at No. 3 overall. The Dennis Schroder experiment did not work as planned. The Hawks are now the fourth-most popular team in their own city behind the Falcons, Braves, and Atlanta United, respectively. They not only need the point guard of the future, but they need star power, too. They snag both here with Young.

BS: The Sacramento Kings will take Duke freshman forward Marvin Bagley III with the second overall pick. I like Bagley in Sacramento, and I think Dave Joerger might actually get a good Draft pick. Bagley and De’Aaron Fox could be a stable situation within an unsteady franchise.

AS: The Phoenix Suns will select Arizona’s Deandre Ayton with the first overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft. Ayton stands the best chance to be a franchise player. He has all the tools offensively along with the body/athleticism to develop into an imposing defender. Ayton has the highest floor in the Draft, and possibly the highest ceiling as well.
