Jevon Carter

Jevon Carter is a tough-minded player who would fit great in Memphis. He has the tough mentality and mindset that fits this city and team. He graduated from West Virginia, where he was one of the best defensive players in college basketball.

One of the biggest reasons for Jevon’s improvement over his college career is his three-point shooting. He shot in the low-30s in his first two seasons, but was up around 39% during his junior and senior seasons.

His defensive ability is where he could make an elite impact at the next level from Day One. He has that toughness to where he could be a very successful player. His defense will keep him in the league, but he needs to continue to improve on offense if he wants to reach his full potential.

There have been rumors that opposing guards have dropped out of workouts when they found out that Jevon Carter was attending that workout. There is no way to know for sure if it is true, but to have rumors like that circulating says a lot about Jevon as a competitor.

Jevon Carter averaged 17.3 points and 6.6 assists per game while being named a Second-Team All-American. He averaged three steals per game, which led to him being named the NABC defensive player of the year. He earned this award in 2016-17 as well.

Carter earned back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year awards and All-America Second Team. That is an impressive résumé to have. The Memphis Grizzlies should strongly consider Jevon Carter with the 32nd pick; if for nothing else, his ability to defend opposing guards.
