As much as I think this doesn’t seem true, it would be a great backup plan if the Grizzlies couldn’t pull through on Avery Bradley. Barton is coming off of a very nice season in Denver with a Nuggets team that did not look for him first or even second on the offensive end, and still averaged a little over 15 points per game.

At 6’5 Barton gives you flexibility off the bench to come in and play the two or the three position. I really like Barton’s game, and is known for going big at random times throughout the season. Makes me wonder, will consistency be a problem with Barton?

Learning a new offense is always tough on an new free agent, but I think that Barton has a very versatile offensive game that he can play in multiple offenses, and be very successful, and could be in Memphis.

Next, Memphis should look at how he plays defense, and if and when they look, they shouldn’t be unimpressed? He had 82 steals last season in his 81 games played, but his length and lateral quickness can make up for any mistake defensively.

If the Grizzlies get shutdown by the Bradley camp on July 1st, look for the Grizzlies to approach Barton and bring him home to Memphis.
