The Memphis Grizzlies entered Sunday nights match up with the Orlando Magic. Jaren Jackson Jr., first real test in the NBA in peer Mo Bamba, how would he fair?

First Quarter:

After two and a half minutes, the Memphis Grizzlies finally got on the board with a Markel Crawford steal and a Kobi Simmons finish. Early, you could tell that the Grizzlies big men were going to struggle with the Orlando Magic big guys of Mo Bamba and Jonathan Isaac.

Grizzlies guard Jevon Carter, who has struggled offensively in the first several games of Summer League had a sweet stroke in the first quarter.

After one quarter, Memphis trailed by as many as four, but fought on the defensive end and finished the first quarter trailing by only one.

Carter led the Grizzlies with points, followed by Kobi Simmons with four.

Second Quarter:

The Magic started off the second quarter on a 9-0 run. Orlando’s defense was smothering the Memphis guards, and causing turnovers to start the second quarter. Following a muddy start, Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr., started going to work in the post.

Jackson Jr. injured his knee on a tough fall mid way through the second quarter. Did not look like much other then a bruise on the outside of his knee. Jackson returned to game action after taking several minutes on the Grizzlies bench.

To give everyone some summary of what the Grizzlies offense went through in that second quarter- Memphis only scored nine points. The offense wasn’t executing, even by Grit N’ Grind standards.

First Half leading scorers:

Kobi Simmons:14 minutes, 8 points,two rebounds, on 2/7 shooting.

Jaren Jackson Jr.: 15 minutes, 5 points, 5 rebounds on 1/5 shooting.

Third Quarter:

The third quarter was .. worse? The offensive execution was horrible, and had Jackson Jr., showing some attitude about not getting the ball in the post. Memphis went through another muddy quarter, and things weren’t looking good.

Jackson was struggling to get the ball and then when he’d get a chance to shoot, he was heavily guarded. Bamba has way more length, and a better post defender in Issac. Those two together wouldn’t let Jackson get going. Memphis trailed 63-43 after three quarters.

Fourth Quarter:

The Grizzlies continued to struggle as a team. Letting the deficit continue to spread above 20. The Magic dominated Memphis for three quarters, and nothing better’d in the fourth. Memphis shot 26 percent from the field, and ended up dropping their second game of Vegas Summer League to the Magic 56-86 in Vegas.

Key Grizzlies Stat Lines:

Kobi Simmons: 23 minutes, 15 points, and two rebounds on 4/11 shooting

Jevon Carter: 22 minutes, 11 points, 3 rebounds on 4/12 shooting

Jaren Jackson Jr.: 22 minutes, 5 points, 2 assists, and 10 rebounds
