Memphis Grizzlies Dominate Philadelphia in Quarterfinal
The Memphis Grizzlies took on the Philadelphia 76ers in NBA Summer League Quarterfinal action, and completely dominated Philadelphia on Sunday night.
First Quarter:
The Memphis Grizzlies did not hold back at all to begin the game. Jaren Jackson Jr., started the game off with seven of the Grizzlies first 11 points. Memphis’ complete floor game had the Sixers scrambling for anything.
The Grizzlies defense held the Sixers to 26 percent from the field in the first quarter, while Memphis shot 52.6 from the field. Memphis put up 26 points in the fist 10 minutes and held the Sixers to 15 points.
Seriously, the defense was something else:
Second Quarter:
Memphis’ field goal percentage fell from 52 percent to around 40 percent from the field in the first five minutes of the second quarter. Memphis let the Sixers get back to within four of the lead, before Memphis started to get back into a rhythm on the offensive end.
After a slow start to the second quarter, Memphis came back a live, and started playing their game again. Moving the ball well offensively, and getting stops on defense and turning that into transition points. Memphis dropped as low as 39 percent from the field, but brought it back up in the final four minutes of the half to 45 percent.
Memphis finished the first half leading the Sixers by 13, and leading by as much as 15 in that first half. The Grizzlies lead Philadelphia 49-36 after two quarters of play.
First Half Highlights:

Triple-J finished the first half with 12 points and Simmons finished with 9 points.
Third Quarter:
The third quarter can be recapped with simply three words: Jaren Jackson Jr. He was excellent on both ends the floor!
Brandon Goodwin, who has a chance at one of the Memphis Grizzlies two way contract spots was absolutely excellent when Head Coach Greg Buckner went to the all bench unit.
Goodwin finished the third quarter with a team leading 21 points, and again, Memphis had their three guys in double figures heading into the fourth quarter. Memphis lead the Sixers 70-54 after three quarters in Las Vegas.
Fourth Quarter:
Memphis started getting sloppy to start the fourth quarter, and it was not their best basketball, but their defense continued to make up for their lack of offense. The Sixers made a small run towards the end of the fourth quarter, but Memphis had built such a big lead, that Memphis had the keys to the game at that point.
Memphis would go on to beat the Sixers 82-73, and the Grizzlies advance to the semifinals Monday night in Las Vegas.
