On Tuesday afternoon, the Memphis Grizzlies traded two of their worst players, and acquired a veteran wing from the Sacramento Kings.
Seeing the Memphis Grizzlies involved in a trade is a symptom that the Grizzlies have had for the last five to seven years. You hear the news, and automatically assume the worst as a Grizzlies fan, but in the year 2018, it seems as if Memphis’ front office is pulling it together.
Players Involved in the Trade:
I guess you could say that we at Beale Street Bears called it out last night following another underwhelming performance from Deyonta Davis.
The trade also sent Grizzlies guard Ben McLemore to Sacramento with Davis. In exchange, Memphis aquired Garrett Temple from the Kings. Temple is on the books to make eight million dollars, and this upcoming season will be the final year of that contract.
Things Just Got Interesting?
For Memphis, things just got really interesting with the addition of Temple. Adding Temple to an already versatile defensive roster, makes it even more tough for teams facing Memphis in the “GrindHouse.”

Temple will likely play a backup role to Dillon Brooks, and that is great for the future of Brooks. Temple, entering his ninth season in the NBA is a good defensive player, and adds more length to the Grizzlies wings.
It seems that Memphis is back on the rise after a short pit fall, but a lot of people did not expect the front office to have the team recover this well. Entering preseason, Memphis will have a lot of new names on the roster, and will no longer have to discuss who will get cut. Omri Casspi and Temple will both play good veteran roles, on good contracts for this younger Grizzlies team.
This is more clarity for new Memphis Grizzlies Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff, who has done a great job this offseason, long with this front office, which is something I am not used to crediting.
