The Memphis Grizzlies front office made yet another move on Monday afternoon by trading away Jarell Martin. The front office transition is imminent.

Monday afternoon the Memphis Grizzlies made their second move in the month of July, and with a team with no cap room, Memphis has made the most of their opportunity in both trades. The first trade that sent Ben McLemore (last season addition), and Deyonta Davis (former first round pick) to Sacramento for a veteran wing player in Garrett Temple.

Then today, Memphis traded another first round pick in Jarell Martin, and cash considerations to the Orlando Magic in exchange for Dakari Johnson. Johnson was just traded from Oklahoma City on the 20th to Orlando. Four days later he is a Memphis Grizzly.

Martin had a rocky career in Memphis, and never had a real opportunity to develop. Martin ended his three years in Memphis averaging 6.2 PPG, 4.0 REB, and 142 games in Beale Stree Blue.

These moves tell me two things. One, General Manager Chris Wallace is not in charge of this front office anymore, and our ‘ghost General Manger’ is getting ready to take over next summer. If you miss that article on the state of our front office check it out here:

Memphis’ future General Manager is cleaning Wallace’ house out. A house of mistakes, and promises that were broken. Striking out on draft picks for almost a decade straight, and then trading future picks in deals that included guys that did not work out in Memphis.

Now, ‘Ghost GM’ is cleaning house, and doing a very good job at it. Bringing Memphis’ cap down as low as it can be, but it will still be over. Also hitting on two very good prospects in this years draft, something Wallace would never do.

Today’s trade was just another move towards a more crisply run front office. Perfectly ran? Not with this ownership, but Memphis should sleep well knowing that there is a brighter future on the horizon in Memphis’ management.
