Though the Memphis Grizzlies’ 2017-18 season did not end like anyone had expected, let’s not forget how great it began.
The beginning of the NBA’s 2017-18 season started off with much anticipation. Many people were wondering who would take the early lead.
The Cleveland Cavaliers or Golden State Warriors were clearcut favorites for obvious reasons. To many spectators’ surprise, though, it was not either of the two. It was our very own boys in Beale Street Blue. The Memphis Grizzlies.
Memephis started hot, winning five of their first six games, propelling them to the top of the NBA leaderboard for the first couple of weeks. The five victories that Memphis battled through were defeats of other top teams in the league, including the New Orlean Pelicans, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, and Dallas Mavericks.
In the first few games, the Memphis Grizzlies were able to defeat top teams. In these games, the top contributor in the categories of points, rebounds, and assists all belonged to Mike Conley, Marc Gasol, Tyreke Evans, and even Chandler Parsons. Just how things should have been.
Though Evans is no longer with the Grizzlies franchise, both Parsons and Conley are expected to be ready for the season-opener. This will provide a huge boost, much like Grizz Nation witnessed at the start of last season. Coincidentally enough, game No. 1 of the 2018-19 season will be a battle versus Tyreke Evans’ Indiana Pacers.

Combine the skills and abilities of healthy Grizz veteran players with the likes of newcomers Jaren Jackson Jr, Kyle Anderson, and Jevon Carter, and fans can potentially expect some similar results that last season’s 5-1 start. It was no fluke. This truly is rather realistic for 2018-19.
Opposing teams should not forget about the Memphis Grizzlies and the success they have found this decade. Not only are all the members of the Grizzlies squad healthy this year, but significant strategic moves were made by the Front Office to provide additional depth. They did it last season and they can do it again. New uniforms are not the only thing to be excited about come October 2nd, 2018.
