Actor Sinbad joined “Undisputed” to discuss the NBA’s biggest offseason move while simultaneously dissing the Memphis Grizzlies.

This past week, FSI‘s hit show “Undisputed,” featuring Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe, received a guest appearance from popular actor Sinbad.

It was all fun and games on the show until Sinbad name-dropped our beloved Memphis Grizzlies. His quote reads as follows:

"“LeBron is the only guy that could go to any team in the NBA and you got hope. When they’re talking about MVP…wait a minute…what’s the MVP? The Grizzlies get LeBron? They’ll be like ‘we’re going to the NBA Championship.'”"

Come on, Sinbad. Get real. Of course LeBron James could take pretty much any NBA team’s roster, no matter how good or bad the supporting cast, and reach the NBA Finals. In fact, he has accomplished that feat with low-quality teammates in past years of his 15-year NBA career.

Sinbad must not know that Memphis saw two of their three max contracts play in just 121 of 246 possible regular season games last season. He must not pay attention to the fact that Marc Gasol is a three-time NBA All-Star and is coming off of a year with averages of 17.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game on 42% field goal shooting — one of the best fives in the game. Last season was an absolute fluke because of significant injuries to key Grizz contributors.

More from Beale Street Bears

When the Memphis Grizzlies are healthy, they could give a LeBron James-led squad a run for their money. They do not need “The King” to join their forces in order for them to become a contender once again this decade. With LeBron making the shift to the Western Conference, the Grizzlies will have a chance to prove this over the course of the upcoming 82-game schedule.

This was a low blow from Sinbad to name-drop the Memphis Grizzlies. He must have a personal beef with the city of Memphis. He could have chosen the New York Knicks because of the combination of popularity and a poor 2017-18 record. He could have mentioned the league’s worst team from last season — the Phoenix Suns with a 21-61 record.

Perhaps Sinbad is a BBQ connoisseur behind the scenes and is going to bat for Kansas City BBQ over the likes of Memphis, Tennessee’s best offerings? His diss of the Grizz may not quite be NBA-related.

Why did Sinbad select the Memphis Grizzlies, of all NBA franchises, to name-drop when they did not even own the league’s worst record? The franchise with the 28th-lowest overall attendance? The world may never know. Memphis is truly better than what Sinbad personally believes. Regardless, this is yet one more person the Grizzlies will look to surprise in the upcoming 2018-19 season.

Go Grizz!
