Chandler Parsons time in Memphis with the Memphis Grizzlies has not been sunshine and rainbows for both sides. The reality is simple Parsons can lead a solid bench unit.
“Lead” is a term that can get misinterpreted in several ways, but for Chandler Parsons and his role with the Memphis Grizzlies bench unit, Parsons leading this bench is providing stability to a unit that simply will look to him at times for production.
The sooner we let what Parsons could have been go, and accept what the Parsons is today, the sooner we will accept what he can bring to this team in the limited minutes he will play in this season for Memphis.

Parsons won’t be the sixth man or even possibly seventh man, but the guy on defense that does not miss a switch or will not forget to communicate with his teammates on both ends of the floor.
People forget that Parsons was scorching hot last season for this Memphis Grizzlies team before landing awkwardly jumping for a rebound against the the Los Angeles Lakers.
However, Parsons ability to score, and play defensively at certain times throughout certain games makes me think that Parsons will play a similar role to his role last season for Memphis when he finally found his niche with this team.
Driving tenaciously to the rim, maybe, but I think we will see a more conservative Chandler Parsons in 2018. A guy that wants to prolong his career, and adjust to what his knees have in store for him. A guy that is finally ignoring critics of his contract and doing what is best for those guys in that Grizzlies locker room.
We saw this guy come out of no where in a game against the Houston Rockets at FedEx Forum early last season.
Parsons had FedEx Forum rocking, and Grizzlies fans in love finally, with the guy that they had been waiting on. Parsons dropped 24 points, and out of his nine field goals he made, six of those were from three point land.
Parsons, if utilized correctly in terms of minutes can do the same thing for the Grizzlies this upcoming season, can be the leader for this bench, and you can doubt it however you want, but Parsons is Memphis’ guy.
The Parsons experiment hasn’t gone as planned for the Grizzlies, and if you talked to Parsons, he too would tell you he expected things to go different. For now, it is that the Grizzlies doctors, and coaches are on the same page as Parsons in 2018. A year after trying the minutes restrictions, Parsons will continue that process, but will be even more of a factor this season for the Memphis Grizzlies.
