Lead By Example

The Spurs taketh, but the Spurs also giveth.

Coming from such a rich basketball culture in San Antonio, this aspect gives Kyle Anderson a unique perspective to impart. He has been molded by one of sports’ best all-time coaches in Gregg Popovich, and simultaneously learned from one of basketball’s greatest dynasties.

The inherent discipline, work ethic, and sense of team will be crucial for the Memphis Grizzlies this year. Coming off a season full of disappointment, turmoil, and upheaval, chemistry will be paramount. While Mike Conley and Marc Gasol will be called upon to lead, Anderson can still be a valuable role model for the Grizzlies’ youngsters and less-established players. He has more postseason experience than the majority of the current Grizz roster.

Anderson can be a galvanizing force in training camp, where the season’s tone will be set. The Grizzlies’ recent history is steeped in gritty hard work, and blue-collar professionalism; much like their city’s. If he carries forward lessons from San Antonio to impart on the Memphis Grizzlies, there could be a positive osmosis effect that unlocks even further potential from their uncertain roster.
