“Heading into training camp, fans of the Memphis Grizzlies have a lot of high expectations. With a healthy Conley, a well-rested Gasol, and two new, dominant Draft picks, there is a lot of hype as training camp begins.

With that being said, which player seems to be the most anticipated looking into this week? One particular guy that may be underrated and could play a large role on this year’s squad is Wayne Selden.

Out of the University of Kansas, Selden has played for the New Orleans Pelicans in addition to his time spent mostly with the Grizzlies. Last season, Grizz Nation saw a much anticipated improvement in his game despite injuries.

He produced multiple 20-point games; most notable, his matchups against the Indiana Pacers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and a 31-point outburst against his former team (New Orleans).

Selden also improved in every statistical category while averaging 9.3 points per game with many highlight plays. This was something the team was not used to seeing from Wayne being as he appeared in just four regular season games in the previous season.

Even with a few injuries, his dominance in a larger role makes him a player to watch closely in training camp. Though many of the Memphis Grizzlies’ players have much to show this year, Selden will prove to fans the kind of player he can be on a consistent basis.”
