Memphis Grizzlies: Five Important Aspects to Consider Versus Indiana
Starting Bids
Through two preseason games, the Memphis Grizzlies have produced two different starting lineups. With their versatile roster, this was expected as the team jockeys for position.
The influx position resides on the wing at shooting guard. As aforementioned, MarShon Brooks is really making the situation interesting. Plus, Dillon Brooks was a starter for the Grizzlies in all 82 regular season games last season and commands starter’s minutes.
Versus Houston, Grizzlies Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff inserted Garrett Temple at the two-guard spot, though he could potentially see minutes at three different positions. The plot thickens.

Perhaps it would be best to utilize MarShon as the team’s Sixth Man offensive spark plug in the second unit. Ideally, it would be nice to see him become the Grizzlies’ new version of Tyreke Evans. By starting Dillon, the sophomore talent can build upon the consistency and nightly routine he developed in his first season in the NBA, in addition to providing two-way capabilities.
If this is how it were to pan out in Memphis, Temple could be used as a utility option at the point, two-guard, and small forward positions depending upon nightly matchups. It is a nice luxury to have, especially if Bickerstaff intends on limiting Mike Conley‘s minutes in an attempt to keep No. 11’s health sustainable over the course of the season.
Do not be surprised if there is some changes made on Saturday at the two forward positions. Rookie Jaren Jackson Jr. has not had a chance to start and could certainly excel in the starting power forward role. After all, JaMychal Green has plenty of experience as Memphis’ primary and secondary power forward. He has adjusted well in the past and the situation could really come down to the adaptation of Jackson Jr.
In looking at the Memphis Grizzlies’ small forwad position, Chandler Parsons has been the starter in both preseason games. It is inevitable that newcomer Kyle Anderson will soon emerge in the starter’s role, but for now, it is best for Parsons to regain steam on the court with the starting unit.
Chandler Parsons looks to be healthy and ready to finally fulfill his max contract. If he starts, he can gradually regain his form. Less pressure would be placed on him rather than being a key component of the Grizzlies’ secondary unit. Expect him to start once again in the matchup versus Indiana.
