In game three of the preseason schedule, the Memphis Grizzlies took on the Indiana Pacers in the Grindhouse on Beale Street.
First Quarter
The first quarter was delayed at the FedEx Forum due to time clock issues, but this did not seem to have an effect on either team.
After the issue was resolved, the Memphis Grizzlies had the first possession of the game. The first shot of the night was a three-pointer from Wayne Selden that put the Grizzlies on the board.
During the first quarter, Memphis was passing the ball really well; making clean passes to open players past the arc. JaMychal Green was doing a nice job on trying to create second chance shots through offensive rebounds.
The downside, though, is at the seven-minute mark of the first quarter, the Memphis Grizzlies already had 14 fouls to the Indiana Pacers’ none.
One thing to take notice was the speed in which the Grizzlies were playing. The team was making drives followed by quick passes, which allowed shots before the defense had time to find their place.
Jaren Jackson Jr. came in for the first time of the night, making a nice defensive effort. In the last four minutes, Dillon Brooks made his first appearance of the game, immediately making an impact with rebounds and a few step-back shots.
Toward the end of the quarter, Omri Casspi and Andrew Harrison also subbed in to maintain the lead for Memphis. At the end of the first, the Grizzlies led the Pacers by a score of 22 to 27.
